[ i ] is a short sound. Remember that the 1st Front Vowel [ i: ] has a wave, a tense part and a relaxed part. This relaxed part is the 2nd Front Vowel [ i ] and it has no wave. Listen to the difference [ i: ] - [ i ]. [ i: ] - [ i ]. LEAVE - LIVE.
Can you hear the difference? The key word is LIVE.

ソフトに短く発音し、ウエーブがつかない。前の母音[ i:]はイの音が強く弱く聞こえましたが、この母音[ i ]は最初から弱く発声します。
